  • Grading Modern Coins

    A new class, taught by NGC grader John L. Schuch II, introduces students to the finer points of modern coin grading. Explore strike designations and learn what it takes to earn a coveted MS-70 grade.

  • Detecting Counterfeit and Altered United States Coins

    NGC grader and former ANA authenticator Brian Silliman leads this hands-on seminar that lets students examine and study genuine and counterfeit specimens side-by-side.

  • Numismatics of Colonial America

    Instructor Erik Goldstein, curator of mechanical arts and numismatics at the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, shows how money, medals and tokens provide a window into the founding of our country. Students are urged to bring along their colonial specimens for discussion.

  • Augustus Saint-Gaudens: The Renaissance of American Coinage

    Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site • Cornish, New Hampshire

    Students will attend four 3-hour sessions scheduled over two days to study the work of Augustus Saint-Gaudens and his influence on American coinage. Presenters: Henry Duffy, Saint-Gaudens Curator; Roger Burdette, author of Renaissance of American Coinage; John M. Mercanti, Chief Engraver for the United States Mint; and Ute Wartenberg Kagan, Executive Director, American Numismatic Society.

     

  • Coin Collecting Basics (free; registration requested)

    Consumer awareness, grading, proper storage, handling and preservation. Numismatics can be confusing - especially when you are new to the hobby! Learn the nuances of coins, paper money, tokens and medals and how to collect smart for the future.
